The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development signs a memorandum of understanding with the National Center for Vegetative Cover Development and Desertification Control
Publication date: 18 December 2023 - 05 Jumada al-thani 1445Under the patronage of His Excellency Assistant Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Joint Services, Mr. Ismaeil bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Center for Vegetative Cover Development and Desertification Control. The objective of this collaboration is to increase vegetative cover within the ministry and its branches, enhance volunteerism, and raise community awareness. The collaboration will involve the implementation of agricultural technology to boost plant density, marking a pioneering initiative in the Middle East adopted by the ministry for the first time among government and private entities alike. During the signing ceremony, the ministry was represented by Mr. Yasser bin Abdulrahman Al-Babtain, the Deputy Minister for Support Services, while the National Center was represented by Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Abdulkader, the CEO.
The memorandum of understanding encompasses several goals, including establishing a framework to enhance cooperation and integration between the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the National Center for Vegetative Cover Development and Desertification Control. The collaboration aims to support vegetative cover development and sustainability, as well as participate in knowledge dissemination, awareness, and guidance in vegetative cover development. This involves engaging the local community in programs and activities that promote sustainable behaviors and lifestyles through voluntary participation and increasing the vegetative cover area at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh and its branches across various regions of the kingdom. Additionally, the collaboration involves organizing events and activities related to vegetative cover development. Through this memorandum, the ministry seeks to contribute continuously to empowering individuals, communities, and institutions, promoting social responsibility by supporting afforestation, protection, and care projects, with a focus on the "Saudi Green Initiative," which aims to plant 10 billion trees in the kingdom.
