Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud—may God protect him—the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development will host the second edition of the Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC) from January 29 to 30, 2025, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh.

On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, expressed deep gratitude for the generous support. He highlighted that this patronage will significantly bolster the Kingdom’s efforts to adopt and promote modern labor market practices aligned with the highest international standards. Al-Rajhi emphasized the pivotal role this edition will play in fostering a global dialogue to discuss opportunities, confront challenges, and create strategic solutions that will shape the future of labor markets, in line with the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Al-Rajhi further emphasized that the conference would cement the GLMC's position as a leading platform and think tank, fostering labor market research, stimulating dialogue, and contributing to building a comprehensive global labor market ecosystem. This effort is carried out in collaboration with esteemed organizations, including the International Labor Organization, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme.

With the participation of over 40 labor ministers from around the world, the conference will serve as a hub for global dialogue on the future of labor markets. The event will feature a series of panel discussions and workshops bringing together experts, officials, and leaders from both public and private sectors. More than 200 speakers representing over 50 countries will share their insights and experiences, enhancing cooperation to drive positive change in global work practices. The conference aims to bridge gaps within labor markets and generate practical insights to help stakeholders address challenges and implement innovative solutions that attract top talent, set global standards of labor excellence, and advance both local and international markets.

Key topics to be addressed at the conference include continuous skill development and requalification, the role of digital technologies in improving jobs and wages, and how skill-based employment can enhance the effectiveness of future labor markets.  Additionally, discussions will explore productivity across various markets and factors influencing it, the role of a mobile workforce in strengthening economies, and the challenges faced by young people in the labor market. The conference will also focus on smart policies that empower youth to become active contributors to economic growth. In a move to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, the conference will highlight the critical role of small and medium enterprises in driving digital transformation, fostering youth empowerment, and creating more productive job opportunities.
