His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Chairman of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, Eng. Ahmed Sulaiman Al Rajhi, sponsored on Sunday morning in Riyadh, the work of the Sixth International Conference on Occupational Safety and Health under the title of "Exploring the Horizon", which will continue from 5 to 7 May 2024, and discusses five main axes, including sustainability, corporate safety, and technical transformation, in addition to the axis of awareness and culture, and the axis of occupational health, in the presence of a number of their Highnesses, Excellencies, specialists and experts from Inside and outside the Kingdom.

 In his speech during the opening of the conference, Minister Al Rajhi stressed the success of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the past years in accomplishing many achievements in the field of occupational safety and health, as a result of the programs and initiatives that began in conjunction with the launch of the Saudi Vision 2030. The vision aimed at creating a vibrant society and building an economy characterized by diversity and sustainability, indicating that the Kingdom seeks, through the National Policy for Occupational Safety and Health, to promote and develop the system, to promote and protect workers in various workplaces at the national level. In accordance with local laws, international treaties and conventions, and providing best international practices that suit the labor market.

 His Excellency praised the efforts of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health and the integrative role played by the authorities from various sectors in the Council and in the occupational safety and health system. He explained that these efforts resulted in a decrease in the rate of work injuries in the Kingdom from 416 injuries per 100,000 workers to 288 injuries per 100,000 workers, at a rate of 30.7% during the past years. Moreover the percentage of institutions complying with the occupational safety and health system increased to 71.27%, in addition to the issuance of a number of legislations that contributed effectively to promoting awareness of occupational safety and health issues through the launch of the National Strategic Program for Occupational Safety and Health. Among these legislations the issuance of the administrative regulation related to occupational safety and health, and the development of an integrated national policy in this field in cooperation with the International Labor Organization and the three production parties, which ensured the comprehensiveness and reliability of this policy and its implementation by a decision of the Council of Ministers, with careful follow-up of its implementation.

 His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development inaugurated the exhibition accompanying the conference, and visited a number of pavilions of partners, sponsors and participating entities, such as the General Organization for Social Insurance exhibition and the Aramco exhibition, the founding partners and organizers of the Conference. His Excellency also inaugurated the official website of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, and reviewed the e-training platform in the field of occupational safety and health, and the platform for reporting and investigating accidents and injuries at work and occupational diseases.
