The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announces the start of the implementation of the decision to ban work under the sun as of June 15

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health will start applying the ban on working under the sun to all private sector establishments, from 12 noon to 3 pm, starting from Saturday 9 Dhu al-Hijjah 14445 AH corresponding to June 15, 2024 AD, until Sunday 12 Rabi' al-Awwal 1446 AH corresponding to September 15, 2024 AD. This decision comes within the framework of preserving the safety and health of workers in the private sector, avoiding what may cause them health risks, and providing a healthy and safe work environment for them in accordance with international standards of occupational safety and health.

Employers were urged by the Ministry to establish working hours and take into consideration the provisions of this decision in order to protect workers from accidents, improve and increase productivity, and raise the standard of efficiency and preventive measures to lower occupational diseases and injuries.

Procedural Guidelines for Occupational Safety and Health For preventing the Effects of Exposure to Direct Sun and Heat Stress 2021 was released by the Ministry on its website to help reduce the negative effects of heat stress and sun exposure. Reports of violations of the prohibition on working outdoors can be made by contacting the Ministry's unified number (19911), or through the Ministry's application available on smart phones.
