The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development participates in the second meeting of the Employment Working Group of the Republic of India

Today, Monday, April 3, 2023, the Employment Working Group of the G20 under the Indian Presidency began its second meeting that lasts over three days in Guwahati, India. This comes as a continuation of the discussion of the group's priorities for this year, which focus on addressing the global skills gap, sharing economy and social protection platforms, and sustainable financing of social security.

 The Kingdom's delegation participating in the meeting was headed by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to enable Saudization, Eng. Muhannad Al-Issa, with the participation of the Director of the Conventions and International Studies Department, Ms. Maram Al-Daham.

The ministry delegation will participate in the drafting sessions of the Ministerial Declaration for Labor and Employment and the documents attached to it, which are planned to be approved at the Ministerial Meeting for Labor and Employment to be held in the Indian city of Indore in July, 2023.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) reviewed the progress of member states in achieving the “Brisbane target” to bridge the gender gap with regard to the rate of participation in the labor market, and the Antalya goals to increase the rate of youth participation in the labor market. The most prominent achievements were also reviewed and the activities of the G20 Network for Occupational Safety and Health, and the G20 Entrepreneurship Research Center. The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation with other work groups in the financial track and the education track to ensure harmonization and consistency of outputs.

It is expected that the discussions will continue during the second meeting, which is currently taking place in Guwahati, Republic of India, in addition to two upcoming meetings with the participation of the member states and international organizations.
